Professor Jacqui Matthews, The Moredun Institute is the Principle Investigator of the H2020 PARAGONE project.
A partnership of academic and commercial organisations working to develop subunit vaccines for multicellular parasites to be used on farms in the EU and beyond.
The PARAGONE project is striving to produce effective vaccines for several major parasitic disease of livestock including:
- Sheep Scab
- Gut worms of sheep and cattle
- Liver fluke affecting sheep and cattle
- Red mite of Poultry
PARAGONE focuses on taking previously identified promising prototype vaccines to the later stages of proof of concept and beyond, with the main objectives being:
- Improvement of previously demonstrated efficacy levels
- Making the production process for efficient and cost effective and/or
- Investigating multivalency potential of some of the prototypes
