TSEs of ruminants, including their diagnostics, in-vitro replication, dissemination and environmental fate. Application of next generation phage display technologies- disease diagnostics, DIVA based assays, peptide vaccines.
Real name:
Originally trained as a virologist, but having spent the last 12 years or so working on TSEs of livestock. More recently we have been investigating the application of next generation phage display techniques to determine diagnostic antigens that are indicative of infection (serology), a technique that can also be applied to design DIVA based assays and potential peptide based vaccines. Current interests in this area are application of these techniques to diagnose SBV infection in sheep and cattle, Salmonella in pigs and poultry and possible novel vaccine design for fluke in cattle.
