Understanding of bacterial and parasitic pathogenesis and immune responses to infection with a view to develop novel immunotherapeutic control methods, with a focus on vaccination.
Postdoctoral core scientist in Professor Mark Stevens’ group, studying microbial and host factors in foodborne bacterial zoonoses. My personal interests are in studying host immunity and pathogen virulence factors to inform the development of vaccines and novel immunotherapeutics. Using my veterinary training, I developed and used in vivo models of enteric and systemic bacterial infections in chickens, cattle and pigs. I also conduct independent research on Histomonas, a protozoan parasite of poultry.
