For the past 20 years, I have worked in the field of applied immunology, using immune effector assays, particularly cytotoxic T lymphocytes to identify protective immune responses. This has included experimental virus challenge infections,(equine herpesvirus) and collaboration with industry, often including vaccine trials to demonstrate efficacy and duration of immune responses. The collaborative development of immunological tools for veterinary species is also a key interest.
Real name:
Identification of herpesviral target proteins for cytotoxic T lymphocytes, the role of MHC class I in presentation of target peptides, the influence of genotype on clinical outcome of viral infection.
Schmallenberg virus: in collaboration with colleagues, we are actively competing for grant funding in this area.
