Ndawula Charles
I am Charles From Uganda, a Senior Laboratory Research Technician under the bitechnology / biochemistry research Unit of National Livestock Resources Research Institute , one of the public research institutes under the National Agricultural Research Organisation, Uganda.
I graduated from Makerere University Department of Biochemistry in 2010 with a Bsc hons degree majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Chemistry and Zoology. I also hold a Master of Science Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biolgy from Jiangnan University School of Biotechnology, China. Currently (2016-2020) i am a PhD Cellular and Molecular biology student at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul under the Center of Biotechnology. My research then is developement of recombinat GST vaccine spicific to ticks endemic to Uganda.
Over the past years, i have worked on different pathogens which include but not limted to Plasmodium, trypanosoma, tick borne pathogens, tsetse biology and lately ticks as a reserch technician. this has given a strong back groung in understanding the practicle need to controlling parasites by use of diagnostic tools and recombinat vaccines.
I am passionated about the application of biotechnology in developing rapid diagnostic tools and recombinat vaccines against zonotic pathogens as well as anti tick vaccines. With this background i strongly believe i can contibute to the well being of farmers as well as contibute to the increased livestock production in Uganda
One other great field of interest to me is understanding the mechanisms pathogens and vectors use attain drug resitance. this would act as targets for recombinat vaccine development.
i look forward to interacting with the research scientists on this platform and learn from their research experiences
