Rob Field
User-friendly chemist, well-versed in working with biologists. Many year experience in applying chemistry to problems associated with microbial pathogenesis (trypanosomiasis, tuberculosis, influenza) Extensive experience of small molecule and macromolecule conjugation chemistry in connection with sensor development. Active ongoing collaborative programme with DSTL, Mologic and iQur (supported through the US Govt) on glycoconjugate vaccines associated with homeland security (Burkholderia – parallels to glanders in horses). This programme involves the production of capsular polysaccharides, recombinant pathogens proteins and virus-like particles for the generation of conjugate vaccines. Ongoing collaboration with George Lomonossoff (JIC) on VLPs as vaccine ‘carriers’. Active interest in chemical targeting of conjugates to antigen-presenting cells in order to improve vaccine efficacy Full publications at: http://www.jic.ac.uk/staff/rob-field/pubs.htm
