The International Veterinary Vaccinology Network has recently been funded by the GCRF Networks in Vaccines Research and Development initiative which is co-funded by the MRC and BBSRC. The aim of the International Veterinary Vaccinology Network is to establish collaborations to improve vaccine design and development for major livestock and zoonotic diseases in low-and-middle income countries (LMICs). [\lead]
The International Veterinary Vaccinology Network offers a unique opportunity to establish a forum for specialists from the UK and LMICs to focus on establishing new collaborations between partners with complementary expertise to effectively address critical 'bottle-necks' in the development of veterinary vaccines for LMIC priority diseases. Many of these obstacles are relevant to human vaccinology and so much of the science conducted by the Network will have applications under the ‘one-health’ remit.
Network activities will be achieved through:
- Annual scientific meetings
- Workshop
- Pump prime funding
- Laboratory exchanges
- Advocacy
