In 2014, after discussion with the Veterinary Vaccinology Network, BBSRC added a highlight to the Tools and Resources Development Fund call 1 to encourage applicants interested in developing new technologies for veterinary vaccinology to apply.
The Tools and Resources Development Fund is intended to support novel, pump priming technology development, with small (£150K maximum) , short duration awards (up to 18 months). Of the 16 grants funded through TRDF 2014, seven contained vaccinology development. Clearly, this is a suitable mechanism for applicants interested in investigating vaccinology technology and methods, and we would encourage researchers in this area to consider the Tools and Resources Development Fund as a potential route for applying for funding. However, researchers should also bear in mind that the scheme is only suitable for early stage development - for work on projects that have established a proof-of-principle, researchers should look to use BBSRC Responsive Mode.
The 2015 Tools and Resources Development Fund call 1 will close this year at the start of November 2015. The BBSRC contact for this call will be Ailidh Woodcock (ailidh.woodcock@bbsrc.ac.uk, 01793 413319)
