Main research interest lies in the understanding the pathogenesis of a herpes virus of chicken (Marek's disease virus) and the immunology conferred to it.
I am also interested in applying CRISPR/Cas9 techniques to alter virus and host cellular genes to understand virus-induced transformation f cell lines.

Ahmedali completed his MSc in Microbiology from the University of Pune. Shortly after his MSc, he joined the vaccine Research and Development Centre of Ventri Biologicals, a leading poultry industry in India as a research technician, where he worked on a range of projects on the growth kinetics of Chicken anaemia virus and Chicken astrovirus and to select vaccine candidates. In October 2016, he joined the Avian Viral Oncogenesis group under Dr. Venugopal Nair as a research assistant studying the role of vaccines in the evolution of virulence of Marek’s disease virus (MDV) in collaboration with the Evolutionary Biology group at Pennsylvania State University
