Begona Valdazo-Gonzalez
I have been working as a Post-doctoral Research Scientist and Veterinary Practitioner (MRCVS) at The Pirbright Institute since 2009. As Researcher, I have been developing full genome sequencing protocols for foot-and-mouth disease virus using Sanger sequencing and Next Generation Sequencing. I normally analyse the data together with epidemiological data to increase the understanding of the transmission pathways of the virus within field outbreaks to support the control policy. However, these data is being also used to support other studies such as the efficiency of antivirals or the generation of new vaccines. As Veterinary Practitioner, I have been participating in the assessment of the welfare and health of animals under experimental scientific procedures.
