Plant expressed proteins, virus-like particles
My group has developed for the rapid production of proteins in plants via Agrobacterium-based transient expression. We have mainly focused on the production of virus-like particles (VLPs) including those from important veterinary pathogens such as Bluetongue virus (BTV). Plant-produced VLPs have been shown to able to stimulate an appropriate immune response in animals and in some instances to confer protective immunity.
