Holly gained an MSc in Veterinary Microbiology in 2014 from The University of Surrey. Since graduating Holly spent 2 years (2015-2017) working at The Pirbright Institute as part of the Non-Vesicular Reference Laboratory an OIE reference laboratory providing diagnostic services for Bluetongue, African horse sickness, African swine fever, Morbilliviruses and Capripoxviruses. Holly is currently a PhD student affiliated with both the Moredun Research Institute and The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at The University of Edinburgh. Her project focus is the pathogenesis and immunogenicity of Atypical Porcine Pestivirus, a virus belonging to the Flaviviridae family.
