The Immune response to respiratory infections
Pre-clinical vaccine research
Real name:
I am interested in host pathogen interactions in the respiratory system. My research is focussed on two areas, the causes of severe disease following respiratory infection and pre-clinical vaccine development. To explore these areas I use a range of in vivo and in vitro models of infection and vaccination, including Influenza, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, non-typeable Haemophilus influenza (ntHi) and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). Due to the increased burden and severity of respiratory infections during early life, I compare the immune response to these pathogens in adult and neonatal models of infection.
