Viruses and Innate Immunity
I am interested in the ways in which both human and animal viruses interact with the innate immune response, and in particular how viruses evade the host’s interferon system. Understanding this should enable us to design attenuated virus strains, essential for vaccine work. My work includes viruses of veterinary interest (e.g. pestiviruses), and, more generally, extends to species of veterinary interest, especially chickens.
