Real name:
Genetic diversity in hosts and parasites, both the functional consequences of this variation and its evolutionary causes. I apply both genomic and bioinformatics to the study of pathogen genomes, particularly of helminths, but I also some bacterial genomes. I have recently sequenced the genome of the cattle liver fluke, Fasciola hepatica, and I am working with colleagues to exploit this resource. I am a director of the Centre for Genomic Research at the University of Liverpool.
