Tharangani Herath
Dr Tharangani Herath is a Senior Lecturer in Aquaculture Health, Harper Adams University, UK. She obtained her PhD (Aquatic Veterinary Sciences, 2010) from the University of Stirling, UK and her Bachelor Degree in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences (BVSc) from the University of Peradeniya Sri Lanka. She completed three post-doctoral research assignments focused on characterising host-pathogen interaction of infectious diseases in salmonids at Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling. At present her main research interest is to understand immune mechanisms of mucosal interfaces (eg. gut, gill and skin) to develop effective and sustainable health strategies (eg. vaccines, immunostimulants and functional feeds) for major farmed fish species.
